Why do some students quit from a good coaching institute? There are so many reasons for this. Let us selet a few reasons and discuss about them.
Reasons
- General view – They cannot quit from school as they wish!!
- Parent’s views – Students fail in school tests in spite of putting them in special coaching centres and sometimes health related issues
- Student’s views
- Students are not comfortable with the faculty and a few rules and regulations of the institute.
- There are disturbance caused by other students in the institute.
- The institute is too far from home.
- Unable to manage time and balance school and tuition portions.
- The faculty does not give respect in the classroom and scolds the students in front of other friends !!
- The institute is not friendly with the students when they are late or absent or miss the tests.
- Not comfortable with tuition time.
Reality Check
- There are three kinds of people in every institution. One is sura ( those who complete the task). Another is anaramba (those who never start and undertake any task). The third person is arambasura (those who start but are unable to continue the process and leave the task incomplete). Nowadays most of us are initial starters only.
- Some students do not understand the standards set by the institute.
- They should strictly adhere to the standards or rules and regulations.
- When they are not compliant with the standards insisted by the faculty, they become misfit to the institute.
- When the non-compliance is disclosed either in school or coaching class, they do not accept their faults and are ready to blame the institute and quit.
- Parents too do not have faith in the mentor or faculty and they are simply driven by their ward’s compulsion.
- By quitting the institute, neither the faculty nor the institute is affected. It is the student who blames the institute or faculty misses the opportunity!!
Possible Solutions
- Attend the exit interview along with the parents once you have decided to quit.
- List out the issues in a calm way.
- Allow the faculty to explore the possible solutions.
- Parents should talk directly to the faculty.
- Accept the deviations from the academic standards by the students.
- Watch the student’s performance on day to day basis.
- Nothing will change in short durations.
- Follow the code of conducts of education.
- Check whether these skill sets have already been achieved by the students in the school.
- Never instigate other friends to follow you.
- A good coaching institute is like a microlearning centre.
